Strengthening Communities to Respond to Effects of Climate Change as a measure to curb Child Labour (SCRECCCL) (2024 - 2026)
The project being implemented by the Children at Risk (CaR) Coalition i.e. KAACR, African Divine Church and Pillars Care Foundation in partnership with Kerk in Actie (KiA)addresses effects of climate change to the community and support children involved in or at risk of child labor, with specific focus on child domestic work, their families and communities to effectively adopt alternative ways of life that promote understanding on climate change and child protection.
The main goal of the project is to undertake follow-ups and build up programs informed by previous interventions that aims to compliment government efforts towards withdrawal and prevention of all children and youth engaged in child labor and in worst form of child labour and other forms of abuse back to education in Western Kenya by 2030.
The objectives of the project are to: –
- Rescued children from CDW are influential actors amongst their peers in family and community
- Withdrawn children from CDW have strong and healthy, equitably protect, respect and nurture all children and youth
- Positively influence religious organizations and communities to keep children and youth out of child
- To provide safe and just environment that nurture, value and protect children withdrawn from CDW
- To provide justice, protective and social support mechanism to CDW survivors; support services are effective and accessible to all laws and policies
