Provincial Child Protection Networks

Provincial Child Protection Networks

Kenya is predominantly a youthful national, with over half of the population being persons below 18 years (19.6 million out of a population of 40 million). Efforts have been made by civil society organizations (CSOs) and international agencies to address the plight of children in Kenya, but it seems the problems of child abuse and neglect keep rising day by day. This has led to unemployed youth who are prone to be misused by politicians and other groups to cause chaos not only in the country but in the East African region. KAACR is carrying out this project that intends to mobilize partners and CSOs from seven Counties i.e. Bungoma, Busia, Nakuru, Machakos, Kitui, Mombasa and Kilifi, to use the best practice of networking which has worked at the national level as a way making the people at the county levels to protect their children in a better self-sustaining way and thus reduce the plight of the many children in Kenya as County Child Rights Networks (CCRNs).

The Objectives of the project two year are:

  • To Reduce violence against children in and around schools from 4 target counties
  • To Advance Children’s Rights through sensitization CCRNs on legal framework to ensure a firm legal foundation
  • To Strengthen capacity of CCRNs to advocate the rights of children at the county & National levels
  • To strengthen the Regional Partnerships with Children Networks in Uganda and Tanzania.
  • Strengthening organizational capacity to enhance programming for child protection
